Javea is a town of great beauty and magical landscapes, a haven of peace and serenity.

It is situated between the San Antonio and La Nao capes, and is protected by the impressive and magnificent Mount Montgo.

There are three main areas in Javea: the old town, the Port and the Arenal.

The old town is a maze of pretty narrow streets.
The Port, is a busy fishing port where you can enjoy fresh fish in the local restaurants and bars.
The Arenal is the main tourist area with it’s long sandy beach planted with Palm trees and promenade with many bars and restaurants serving local traditional Spanish food as well as a huge range of other international dishes.
Advanas del Mar is the area generally known as the Port and marine area, and is
2km from the old town. Pavement cafes and bars overlooking the Mediterranean invite you to sit and have a drink and enjoy the ambiance.

Javea town offers a variety of shopping and historical interest. The ‘Solar Blasco’ Archaeological museum offers a wealth of information about the Iberian history. The town hosts an indoor market which sells all sorts of household goods, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fresh fish brought from the port daily. It also holds a large outdoor market every Thursday, with many traditional Spanish goods and food for sale.

The Arenal is home to numerous bars and restaurants and during the summer evenings there are numerous stalls selling handicrafts and jewellery as well as musicians performing and portrait artists.

Cuisine/Eating out
Since Javea is a coastal town, fish and shellfish dishes are a plenty. Try the delicious stews, ‘Cruet de peix’ and ‘suc roig’. Also typical are fresh salted anchovies, tuna and the tasty ‘barreta de melva’, as well as Javea’s delicacy, ‘bogamarins’, (sea-urchins).

Rice is a main ingredient of many dishes, such as ‘arros al forn’ (oven baked rice), arros amb costra’ (covered with a crust of omelette), and of course, the traditional Paella. Also typical of Javea are ‘Cocas’, small pizza-like pasties filled with various ingredients from vegetables to oil and anchovies.
